Certificate II in Security Operations

Any person wishing to gain employment within the Security Industry in Queensland must hold a Security licence issued by the Office of Fair Trading. To obtain this licence, you must have first completed an approved training course.

The units required to be completed are:

CPPSEC2001A   Communicate effectively in the security industry
CPPSEC2002A   Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry
CPPSEC2003B   Work effectively in the security industry
CPPSEC2004B   Respond to security risk situation
CPPSEC2005A   Work as part of a security team
CPPSEC2006B   Provide security services to clients
CPPSEC2011B    Control access to and exit from premises
CPPSEC2012A   Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour
CPPSEC2014A   Operate basic security equipment
CPPSEC2015A   Patrol premises
HLTAID003       Provide first aid

In addition to this, to add crowd control to your licence you must also complete an additional four units from Certificate III in Security Operations. The additional units required to be completed  are:

CPPSEC3002A   Manage Conflict Through Negotiation
CPPSEC3003A   Determine Response to Security Risk Situation
CPPSEC3007A   Maintain Security of Environment
CPPSEC3013A   Control Persons Using Empty Hand Techniques

To be eligible for a licence, participants must:

be 18 years or older
undergo a criminal history check
pass the required training course

Participants are not eligible for a licence if they have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 10 years, where a conviction was recorded.  Participants must also advise the Office of Fair Trading if they have been found guilty of a disqualifying offence in the past 5 years, where a conviction was not recorded (this is known as an “unrecorded finding of guilt”).  The Office of Fair Trading may ask participants for further information to assess if a participant is a suitable person to hold a licence.

A criminal history check is one of the requirements conducted by the Office of Fair Trading when applying for a Security Licence.  It is the responsibility of each participant to check their eligibility with the Office of Fair Trading prior to booking into this course.

Course Delivery Method

Face-to-face and blended course run over 2 weeks commencing at 8.30am and runs for approximately eight hours each day.
