Restricted Electrical Course
The aim of this program is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to safely disconnect and reconnect fixed wiring electrical equipment. Specifically, the course encompasses working safely, identifying supply arrangements, following isolation procedures, selecting and using testing and measuring devices, terminating and connecting cables and conductors, and safely testing and reporting. It excludes disconnecting or reconnecting circuits at a switchboard or to general electrical accessories or installation of or alteration to any part of the fixed electrical wiring system.
- To be eligible for this course you need to hold an Electrical Work Training Permit from the Electrical Safety Office prior to course commencement. (Form 21 – see the ESO website www.electricalsafety.qld.gov.au) The Electrical Work Training Permit ensures that the student holds the prior knowledge required to apply for a Restricted Electrical Work Licence.
- The participant must hold a Certificate III qualification or higher from a designated trade
- Be registered as an apprentice in an electrical trade
- Or provide at least 5 years experience in an electrical trade
The course includes of the following units of competency:
UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
UEERL0004 Disconnect-reconnect electrical equipment connected to low voltage installation wiring
UEERL0005 Locate and rectify faults in low voltage (LV) electrical equipment using set procedures
UEERL0001 Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to a single phase 230 Volt supply
UEERL0002 Attach cords, cables and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to 1000 Va.c or 1500 Vd.c supply
Note: Guardrite does not deliver training of the contents of this course, but delivers assessment only, although training material is available to participants.
Upon successful completion of all components of this course, learners will be in a position to apply for a restricted electrical licence. To apply for a restricted electrical licence you need to demonstrate a regular need to carry out electrical work as part of your primary work function.
