The White Card course (CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is mandatory training required prior to undertaking work in the construction industry.
The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.
It covers identifying and verbally reporting common construction hazards, undertaking basic risk control measures, identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies and correctly selecting and fitting common personal protection equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
As part of the new white card unit of competency (introduced effective 20th October 2017, and now known as CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry), you are required to demonstrate your ability to correctly fit the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to yourself:
- Hard Hat
- High-Visibility Clothing (vest or jacket)
- Ear Protection, and
- Eye Protection
The White Card course is nationally recognised and generally takes around six hours to complete. This course is delivered in class at our training rooms at Ashmore on the Gold Coast. We also have this course available as a blended delivery, where you study the learning materials at home, but assessments must be completed at our training rooms at Ashmore.
All PPE required for assessment will be available for your use on the day.
As a result of completing this training course you will have the knowledge to:
- Identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work
- Identify construction hazards and risk control measures
- Identify health and safety communication and reporting processes
- Identify incident and emergency response procedures
Fees The fee for this course is $85
On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet size card.
This card does not expire but charges apply to re-issue the card if lost or destroyed.
